About this caliber
The automatic caliber, composed of 363 components, includes six barrels: four dedicated to storing energy for the 30-minute on-demand Power Light function and two reserved for maintaining a three-day power reserve for time indication.
The six barrels can be wound either automatically or manually. To enhance winding speed, the oscillating mass weight has been increased by 235% compared to the traditional P.9010 caliber and is equipped with a new ball-bearing system for improved shock resistance.
This caliber features an ad-hoc microgenerator that transforms the mechanical energy stored in the four dedicated barrels into electricity for the Power Light function. The compact microgenerator, measuring 8 x 2.3 mm, incorporates custom-made coils, magnets, and a stator to optimize energy efficiency. It operates with a high-speed rotor spinning at 80 revolutions per second, generating a 240 Hz high-frequency electrical signal to power the 160 micro-LEDs on the dial, hands, and bezel.
Optimizing energy efficiency was a primary challenge, given the limited energy stored in the barrels, but the result is a meticulously engineered system tailored for this innovative functionality.
