The Universal Genève Tribute to Compax (Ref. JU281121A1X1) debuted in 2025 as part of a six-piece collection honoring the legendary Compax chronograph famously worn by Nina Rindt in the 1960s. This reissue captures the spirit of Universal Genève’s golden era through faithful proportions, artisanal dial work, and a restored in-house movement.
The 36 mm case, crafted in 18K white gold, measures 12.67 mm thick and 44.44 mm lug-to-lug, offering vintage dimensions with modern refinement. A fixed aluminum bezel with a tachymeter scale frames the opaque white grand feu enamel dial, paired with black enamel subdials in a traditional tri-compax layout. The cambered sapphire crystal is treated with double anti-reflective coating, ensuring clarity under any light.
The display features small seconds at 9 o’clock, a 30-minute counter at 3, and a 12-hour counter at 6. The black varnished hour and minute hands, white subdial hands, and red central chronograph seconds hand are coated with Super-LumiNova for enhanced readability.
Inside beats the manual-winding Universal Genève Caliber 281, a restored column-wheel chronograph operating at 18,000 vph with a 36-hour power reserve.
Water-resistant to 50 meters, the Tribute to Compax is paired with a brown calfskin bund strap handcrafted by Satoru Hosoi, secured by an 18K white-gold pin buckle engraved Universal Genève / HOSOÏ-PARIS.
